New Distributor for PosiTector 6000 OPC Drum Coating Thickness Tester

Cartridge Conservation is pleased to announce their appointment as distributor to the remanufacturing industry for the PosiTector 6000 OPC drum thickness tester. This gage is a hand-held device designed to non-destructively measure the thickness of the non-conductive layer on a curved, non-ferrous material (aluminium).

This metre is ideal for measuring drum coating thickness. It allows a technician to physically assess the depth of the new, remaining or failed coating thicknesses of the OPC. So for those remanufacturers who are looking to take the guess work out of visual inspections, here is a tool that you should have in your toolbox that will save you money.”

The PosiTector 6000 thickness tester takes a reading from immediately below the probe. This machine can be used to quickly check OPC drums on batches of cartridges coming into the shop. The decision to re-use or not can be made at this point rather than after further processing such as cleaning, polishing or coating. The PosiTector will very quickly give you a better picture of the optimum wear areas on a range of OEM and aftermarket drums and you will be able to make accurate measurements and assessments on the OPC’s that you purchase. For smaller remanufacturers it will enable you to have a lot more information to assess whether that OPC drum will go one more cycle for a particular customer.
.
Over the coming months Cartridge Conservation will be releasing a Quicktime movie on how to best use this tool. We already have a number of helpful hints and tips that will help you to succesfully master and get the most out of this useful tool. As well, (and perhaps more importantly) we are currently compiling some figures and tables on drum wear that will be made available to anyone purchasing the PosiTector 6000. Some of our customers have already indicated their willingness to give feed-back on averages that they are getting from different drums and cartridges and hopefully this can be built into some more useful material.

This invaluable tool will now be able to help you better assess drum wear factors such as which wiper blades cause the least wear and also which polishes, potions and lubricants are really effective.
